Mornington Peninsula Photography workshops – James Harvie – Scoops up at Australia’s Professional Photographer of the year awards
Aside from running Beginner Photography workshops on the Mornington Peninsula I am also addicted to entering Photography awards. I am so obsessed with being the best I can be that to this day I can proudly say I have entered these awards since 2004. Now the 1st year my 4 images all failed and to be frank I didn’t feel too good. So to overcome this I spent time examining those images that did achieve awards and try to learn from them. Then Bingo from 2005 onwards the awards began to flow.
The judging process is quite a nail bitting experience. Each image is judged by a panel of 5 judges. Often judges will differ in their score so much so that a lengthy discussion will take place which can result in an images final score changing.
This year from my folio of 4 images 2 images scored Silver awards with a further image scoring a Silver Distinction award. The Australian Professional Photographer of the year awards (APPA) is an annual event which includes professional photographers from both within Australia and from overseas.
The work I entered was from my personal collection of Fine Art Architecture Photography which follows on from my recent win being honoured as the AIPP VIC Commercial Photographer of the year 2017.
It is wonderful having your work judged against some of the finest photographers in Australia and in the end it really pushes your creativity to be the very best you can be. I have included the images in this story.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
